Over the next few months we are excited to try out something new at the club, to kick things off we are going to hold a Handicap Tournament on June 19th. You might ask, what is a handicap tournament? A handicap refers to a system that adjusts the scoring advantage or disadvantage for players of different skill levels, making matches more competitive.
Example:
If one player has a handicap of +10 and the other has a handicap of -10, the player with the +10 handicap would start each game with 10 points, while the other player would start with -10 points.
This style of tournament means that anyone can win, a couple lucky points here, a great winner there and you could be holding the trophy (or cash) aloft at the end of the night.
We are encouraging everyone to come along and give it a try, the handicapping will be done at the beginning of the night, matches will be played in the following format:
1 Game: first to 21 wins (golden point).
Max starting handicap: +15
Min starting handicap: -10.
First Round Losers will rejoin the draw into the "lucky" losers bracket.
Tournament Entry Fee: $5 (payable by cash or card on the night)
Prizes:
1st: 70% of entry fees
2nd: 20% of entry fees
Please register for the event prior to Thursday, June 19th (or arrive and register by 5:30pm on the day).
Note: there will be no social play or coaching available for the session.
